should i pay someone to dispute items on my credit report to repair my bad credit? I am about to graduate from college and I would really like to improve my horrible credit score (541), all of which come from charged off credit cards when I first started college :-( A friend of mine found this guy who she says repaired her credit for about $500 by disputing negative items on her report and getting them removed, which made it alot easier for her to get a new car, and soon she will by buying a house. Should I go to this guy?? Does that stuff really work?? I would like to do it myself, but I wouldn't even know where to start and I would not have the time, especially with work and school... Most of the items on my report are 2-3 years old... I need advice!! Please help me improve from a 541...
Best way to repair bad credit? Short of the obvious,is anyone fimiluar with working with a specific "bad credit" repair company. I have been told they can pretty much wipe your credit clean and find that very hard to believe. I have tax leins and a discharged bankruptcy on my report and was told they can wipe that out.Very doubtful i believe, and dont want to just start throwing money out to these people with no results. Can anyone reccommend the best and safest solution in repairing my history and what actually can be removed?
Is Credit Repair really effective and how much would you pay for it if it is? A good credit report is very important for living a comfortable life of financial freedom but it's difficult to recover fom a bad credit report once you've made a few mistakes. Credit repair companies can be helpful, especially if you allow some time for your file to be worked on before you need it completely done.

HELP I need to clean up a very bad credit report.? My credit is a disaster. I had a mulitude of things that have caused it. My problems started with severe medical problems and a business failure then foreclosures on several homes (18) I had to go through Bankrupty in 2004. My credit is so bad I tried to rent an apartment and my report did not even show any score. I also have IRS leins both state and federal. My medical problems are behind me but how can I regain my credit. What is the process in disputing information that is not accurate. Everyone says you can clean up credit but no one explains how unless you pay them. I would be more than willing to pay if I thought I trust them but I don't. Most of the credit repair places are just scams. I have a small business and would like to expand but it is impossible with my credit. Everything is cash only. My health is good and my business is doing fine. How can I get my score back into the high 700"s like it was before. Where do I start? How many years will it take?
bad credit report? i want to repair my credit , my credit report shows from a collections agency that the debt is from 2006 but it's been about 7 years shouln't it be off my report, and is it true if i contact the collection agency they can restart the collection process all over again
How to repair bad credit? To start off with I have absolutely no credit in my name. I'm not working as of right now but I've tried to get cards in the past to build up my credit but those were a no-go. So all credit my husband and I have is in his name. Anyway, we made some poor choices and got ourselves in debt(over $3000) when we first got married. We did pay that off after my husband came back from deployment. In the past couple of years we repeated that cycle and had two credit cards that totaled just over $2,000. We did pay those off this year with some of our tax return. Right now we have a Target card open but it only has a $500 limit and we are working on getting that paid off as well. We have two vehicles that we pay on monthly(always on time) as well as a few other bills(cable, phones, insurance) that get paid off fine. We do not own our home nor do we pay any utilities. My question is(finally) how do we work on rebuilding his credit from here? Do we keep those other cards we've paid off open or do we close the accounts? I noticed the last time we looked at his credit report that it said some things have revolving credit. What is the best way to sort all of this out and get back on the right track? We would like for it to be in decent shape by the time my husband gets out of the Marine Corps which will be in 2011(maybe).
My credit report is outdated reflecting a negative score. Are there any companies to hire to help correct? I have a (really) bad credit score. I earned it in the late 90s (right after graduating college '97 - '99). Seven years have gone by but nothing has dropped off. I realize I need to start writing all the letters to the credit reporting agencies and get it updated and accurate. But I wanted to see if there were any companies out there that would write the letters and "fight the battle" to get my credit report updated and corrected. The normal credit repair companies are not really helpful as I am looking to have outdated items removed versus consolidation or payoffs. Any advice? Thank you!!
how can i buy a house and build my credit when my credit is bad? my credit is shot. i dont have any huge purchases on my credit but what i do have are outstanding, write offs, collections, IRS judgement (but it is paid and current). i have been trying to get a credit card and car loan for the longest but i get rejected and now i have a long list of "inquiries", which doesnt make my credit report look any better. what can i do to begin to either repair my credit or GET credit? i cant believe i'll have to stay without credit forever just because my credit is not good now. i know i'm not the only person who has bad credit but everybody else seems to be getting credit but i cant get it. can someone help me please?
what are prospective employers looking at on my credit report? I also need to know what comes up on a basic background check and an FBI background check. I've been applying to jobs and going to interviews which I seem to ace, then I don't get the job. I understand I lack a college education but I am attending school. I'm at a loss. I'm 28, have bad credit, and I'm trying to get my life on track but how am I expected to make it when no one will give me a chance. It's hard to repair credit and pay daily expenses when I can't get a better job.I'm on a strict budget, I'm making sacrifices. Are there any programs for single peolple, with no children, no criminal backgrounds and a somewhat unstable work history? How can a person who partied a little to hard in her early twenties get herself on her feet? Can some one please offer some suggestions?
Does anyone have the web address for the free annual credit report? Im trying to repair my credit and want to know the status of my credit, however i cant seem to find it in any search engines, all the ones i found ask for a credit card or debit card number, i was told before that once a year we are suppose to veiw our credit report for free without having to provide a credit or debit card, which i dont have due to my bad credit.
Starting A Credit Repair and Financial Counseling Business? I currently work as a mortgage broker who specializes in bad credit loans. I have helped many of my clients understand their credit reports and what they can do to improve their credit. I love this part of my job, am good at it and would like to turn it into a source of income. I would like to take a credit repair client, obtain their credit reports and explain the information contained in them in detail. I would give recommendations about what they can do to raise their score and a detailed step by step plan of action. For an additional fee, I would dispute incorrect items on their behalf. I plan to keep my prices low and offer honest, realistic advice specific to the individual's situation and goals. What certifications or licenses do I need to start a business that does this? I did find out I need a $50,000 surety bond for this. How do I get that? I have checked my state's website and most of the information given there was pretty vague. I'd like to hear from someone who has done this before.
Are there any credit repair companies that are legit? I want to fix my credit fast, because my husband and I want to buy a new house in about 6 months. There a lost of credit repair companies out there. They say that they can remove bad hits on your credit report. Has this worked for anyone? If so, which company? How much did you have to pay them? How much did your credit score increase? How long did it take? Thanks a bunch!
Secured credit cards... How long will it take to see credit improvement? If you are using a secured credit card to repair bad credit how long does it take to see an improvement on your credit report? How much improvent do you see? These banks/cards requie you to have a savings account with them equal to your credit limit. If you have collection accounts or JUDEMENTS can a collection agency freeze these accounts and take them?

Can I get companies to report credit like utility companies, cell phone, etc.? Im trying to repair my credit. I looked at my credit report the other day and I noticed that the only some companies only reported bad stuff. Like when I missed a payment for a month and some haven't reported anything at all. THe companies that haven't reported anything are the ones that have been getting paid on time. Is there a way I can request that these companies report my credit. How would I go about that?
38 & Looking to Repair Credit Score (Personal and L.L.C.)? I had some very old debt that has caused me to have a very low FICO (568). SInce then have started my own business and want to get credit score all cleaned up. 2 Questions: Have checks in hand to pay the less than $2K in bad credit reports. I assume the best way to proceed is to get a secure credit card with a bank. 1.) How long to get a near perfect credit score using the secure credit card and making double payments every month? 2.) How can I get a company credit card so that my business can begin to build credit? Secure card in the company name? Cheers,
How long after repairing bad credit could you be eligible for a new loan for school/training? I have atrocious credit. 2 defaults, various revolving accounts, and numerous collections that have made their way onto the report. I also don't have a co-sign. For the better part of the last 3 years I had recurring, misdiagnosed conditions that prevented me from working steady. I want to fly helicopters, but the cost of school is so that it would be faster to pay off debt and get a loan to complete training (leg > commercial pilot), than it would be to save money and pay out of pocket. It's also maybe the right thing to do. I know items stay on the report for ~7 years, but, even with bad history, if you don't actually owe anyone anymore I would have a better chance I would assume. Even if it's not helicopters, I need to finish school. I have 70 hours and lack 8hours for an associates in aviation science (air traffic control), but I haven't been able to get a job in the field. So instead of "finishing" school I should say I need to go back and get some other type of training. one or two classes? where did you study? At Thomas edison state 8 hours is 8 classes, roughly $1100 just to register. I did know about the fafsa already, I couldn't submit it because of tax information and vet status problems. Working to fix it.
How can I repair my credit? I had some health problems in 1999, lost job so got behind on my credit card bills I had alot of health problems in late 1999 and it caused me to be unable to work for some time. As a result I was unable to keep my bills current. At the time I was only 19 years old. I didn't have that many bills. I had 2 major credit cards - one a Providian & the other a Capitol One. The rest of the bills I had were credit from mail order catalogs that weren't even reported to the 3 major credit bureaus so those don't appear on my credit report. Basically, it's the 2 major credit cards that are on there. They both, the Providian and Capital One accounts wound up going to collections. I was also paying off a car at the time but I was able to pay that off to the bank with the help of my parents. I'm now 29 years old & married & my husband & I are wanting to buy a house with a home loan but my credit is not too good, because of the above mentioned situation & my husband's credit is pretty bad. I was advised to repair my credit before trying to get a home loan. How do I do that?
Credit Repair - Credit Cards - Does the type of card make a difference? I found a huge credit card directory... Does the credit card you apply for make a difference on your credit report? If I apply for a poor credit credit card - http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php - Would this effect my credit report? If I apply for a really great credit card like American Express Blue: http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php?review=23 - Would this look good on my credit report if I am approved? And would this look really bad on my report if I am denied compared to a poor credit credit card? I have been reviewing all the credit cards: http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php & found http://www.affiliatetier.com/credit_repair/credit_cards.php?review=23 to have an overall rating and benefit rating as the highest so far... I am scared to apply if I get turned down and it shows on my credit report as being turned down by a GOOD credit card...
Easy to get credit. We need to start repair on a bad situation.? My husband has some flaws on his credit report. (scored in poor section) He needs a credit card or store card that is easy to get to try and get a revolving line established. We plan on buying small amounts & paying off each month. Any suggestions for easy to get cards for people w/ poor credit.
How can I get out of debt and repair my credit while unemployed? I'm 30-something, have been unemployed for 4 months, ran out of money and am close to being booted onto the streets. By trade I'm in IT/Customer Service but am having a hard time finding a position in this market. Even normal jobs are tough to come by in my area. I have contacted all of my creditors regarding my unemployment status but they basically all told me, "You'll go to collections", so now I've not been able to pay my minimums for months, my score/report is negative to the hilt, and a lot of companies are making hiring decisions based off of bad credit reports. Obviously, I need to pay the debt and plan to. However, at this point I'm barely able to eat, made too much money last year for gov/state assistance, and am close to being homeless. But the system seems cyclic in nature and even if I explain my situation to the HR screening companies they don't seem to be too sympathetic. I'm working hard to find a plan out of this mess. If anyone can shed some light or even share a story that might help, I'd be grateful! Indebt In TX Apologize for not being more thorough, but I am applying to normal/low-wage positions as well. I've dumbed down my resume/application but most give me the "overqualified" argument. I also have no Unemployment benefits available to me. I'm not expecting any 6 figure job, just some form of active income would be nice. :)
I have I guess very bad credit and I am trying to get my credit better w/o debt consol. I am hoping to find a? credit card or personal loan. However, I always seem to get turned down even from credit cards that only give 300 credit limit. Mainly on my credit report its medical bills and only a couple fininicial things nothing much. My mom has very bad credit and shes getting approved for all these 300 credit limit credit cards. So my mom said she would co-sign for me however it seems silly to me to have someone with bad credit co-sign or is there any cards that she could get a extra card in my name like the 300.00 credit limit because I am trying to rebuild my credit?? I am a bit confused however, I understand I have to repair my credit and start low. I would just like to know if any credit card company besides catalog scammer credit cards and cards you have to put a deposit on I all ready know about these cards. Any info you have is greatly appreciated. Thank You for all your time reading this and any efforts:)

If I have bad credit, and I do mean BAD... where do I start for repairing it? I have made some really bad decisions with money in the past and have been completely irresponsible with money to the extent that I can't even get a bank account. I need some information on how to go about changing this. I don't have much income as of yet, but as soon as both of my children are in school, I am going to be able to go back to work. I just need to know where to start, beyond getting a copy of my credit report (which has a rating of very poor).
Has anyone used a legit credit repair company? I have tried to dispute items on my credit report and haven’t had much luck. I have late payments, bad debts, and I have no good credit. Please give me links so I can research the different companies and make a educated decision. Also your experience with the company would be helpful. Thanks so much!

How Do I Repair Credit After 7 Years of Delinquency? How Long Does It Take? I asked the question as part of my previous one, but I'm hoping ot get more responses please. After 7 years of delinquency, the bad debt falls off my credit report, let's say I'm at a 400 credit score. How do I go about bettering my credit? How long would it take before I have a fairly decent one again? I am really hoping to rebuild my life and begin to better myself. Thank you
How to repair credit in my case? Currently my credit score is very low as i did not make any payments since1999 and so on because of which 3 of my Credit Card companies charge off, reported loss or Cancel/Closed the accounts, and they in turn sold them to Collection companies who are reporting them every year to the credit bureau, by which my account looks so bad most recently they reported in December 2005, I know it's my mistake and i want to repair it, Some one told me that even if i repay the whole thing still it does not help me as the history of past 5to6 years still remains the same in you history is their any other way which helps me in repairing my credit, Please advice me a good solution.
repairing bad credit? I have had some credit problems in the past and have been workin VERY hard to get things straight. I have been paying all of my bills on time for at least the last 3 years. My credit has not improved. Also, my student loans just came out of defferment and I had moved so I was unaware that they were due. Now they have been reported late on my credit report. I have caught up with the loans. I would like to refinance my home in about a year. What more can I do to improve my credit and how bad will the recent negative affect me?
Best way to repair my bad credit...will any of these actions help? Several years ago I bit off more than I could chew and had 3 major credit cards(Discover, Cap1 and MBNA) To make a long story short, they were all charged off about 5 years ago. I was going through a rough patch in my life and accrued some other miscellaneous debts like a $1000 cell phone bill and a couple of utility bills, which were charged off as well. I looked at my credit score and report today and have roughly a 520 score from all 3 bureaus. With the Discover card, it is still reporting as of Jan 2010 and has about a 9k balance. They filed a judgment against me in 5/2007. Capital One and MBNA are basically the same story with charged off balances of 8k and 4k respectively and are still reporting. On the positive side, I have several accounts that were paid as agreed in the past, other credit cards, car loans, etc. Never a home owner. I currently have a secured credit card with a 200 limit that I use here and there, never late on and I just got an unsecured credit card from HSBC with a 300 limit which I will do the same with. My questions are: How long are these creditors(the charged off accounts) going to keep reporting? As long as I have these delinquent accounts, am I doing myself any good by getting new credit established with these new small limit cards or will the charge offs overshadow the good things I am currently trying to do? I am not able to pay these charged off accounts off and probably plan to never do so unless I come upon a large sum of money. I have considered filing bankruptcy just to clean the slate and start over. What would be my quickest and best course of action for getting good credit?
Is there any place to get FREE credit repair advice? I don't need someone to DO anything for me, just give me advice on what ~I~ can do to improve my credit (ie: should I file bankruptcy?) My credit report is NOT inaccurate, it's just bad! OK, maybe I used the incorrect term in credit "repair", as I said, my credit report is NOT inaccurate. I am looking for advice on how to "rebuild" my credit.
Repairing bad credit, consolidating loans? Try to make this a long story short... My fiance and I are looking to buy a new house. I have great credit, he makes the money. The problem is, he cosigned on a car for his ex, who has defaulted on the loan, and he also has a few credit cards that he himself defaulted on when he was alot younger. He wants to get all this squared away, so we can repair his credit, and hopefully buy our dream home to begin our lives together. My question is, where do we begin? We've gotten his 3 credit reports, and scores, and know what he has out there. He has a few credit cards that are relatively low balances ($100-600), that have already been charged off, should we go ahead and pay on those? Is there anyway he could get a loan for these, with his credit being so low? I assure you making the payments at this point in his life are not a problem, we just don't know where to begin. I should mention that the care his ex defaulted on has NOT been repossessed, we are working with the agency to try to make good on this, and trying to get the vehicle back from his ex. Also all the accounts he's had in the past 4 or so years are current, or paid off, short of this car loan.
Credit Repair? Removing a bad record as a authorized user..? My friend was an authorized user (not joint) on his brothers credit card account. His brother ended up making late payments and then doing a settlement on this account. Unfortunately, the credit for my friend, the authorized user, was also affected. The settlement appears on 1 out of the 3 agencies...therefore, I wanted to know what is the best advice, or best letter to send to a credit reporting agency to get this issue resolved..... I am not looking to give the issue to any CREDIT REPAIR company or any other services. I am looking for a Do-It Yourself approach. Thanks.
