- There should have been a form for disputing with the report, if not call and ask for one. It will not cost you anything to dispute. List all the items separatly and why you dispute them. Alot of times there are people with the same or almost the same name, some are just typos. some may be people who have heard or seen your s/s no. and used it. I hope this helps, BEEN THERE!!!!
- You need to file a dispute form, explaining how or why the items are not yours. You need to provide as much useful detail as possible, dates, locations, prior names if applicable. The credit bureau will contact the original creditor and validate the information your provide. If the creditor dose not respond in 30 days it is removed, otherwise it remains and you will receive an explanation on why within 30 days. You will need to check all three reports for inaccurate information and dispute anything you disagree with individually with the bureaus. What comes off of one will not come off the others unless you dispute the information.
- You can dispute the items but there is much more you should know. File police report, id theft alert, cancell cards, contact creditors, dispute items............ This is an important issue!! Read this page on ID Theft Tips and watch the video!!! http://www.expert-credit-advice.com/identity_theft.htm
- Call all three credit bureaus and tell them you would like to dispute these inaccuracies on your report. Equifax: 1-866-798-6598 Experian: 1-800-734-4617 TransUnion: 1-800-888-4213 good luck!
