Does anyone know of a reputable credit repair company for accounts already reported as bad debt?

What I would like to know is how to clean up my credit report of items that have already been placed there.

  1. those end up costing you more than if you did it yourself. i'd advice you to talk to your bank about how to lessen your credit crunch. they help you by sitting down and going over you finances and spending.
  2. Your local United Way will be able to direct you to a reputable local company. Just give them a call. Good luck.
  3. do it yourself write to the 3 credit reporting agencies and dispute the information they will begin investigations typically it takes about 30 days if however the information is accurate then it stays 7 years 10 for BK 10 plus for tax liens
  4. I think we should start with this question: Did you make your payments on time as promised? If so then you can dispute the reports yourself at each of the repositories reporting. Each credit reporting agency provides online forms for filing a dispute. On the other hand, if you did not make your payments on time as promised or your "payment was lost in the mail" or "you paid online but it didn't go through" the responsibility falls on you. http://experian.com http://transunion.com http://equifax.com
  5. There are very few that are bonded. I work for an attorney that does not do desputes all the reapirs companies do. She actually serves the bureaus with a legal demand and the bureaus usually concede and update the credit report in less that 2 months. Her retainer is extremely cheap compaired to all the other attorneys charging $1000 to $4000. Also, her retainer covers you for 3 years. So if you mess up again or if something pops back up, no extra fee. She also gets all inquiries off. You have to understand that the bureaus violate your civil rights everyday and have been getting away with it for over 30 years. Since they cannot prove that they followed all the rules and regualtions before they reported the negative items, they must concede and delete. This is something that credit repair companies cannot do because you need an attorney to serve the papers. All they do is desputes which you can do yourself, however, if they validate , that could cause a problem if you go in later and serve them with a legal demand. Send me a note if you need additional info.
