Can I fix my credit report?
There are a few bills that my report is saying that I owe. I have moved twice in the past year and I do not think that the post office forwarding system works.. Other than that... I am wondering, if it says past due etc... can I still pay this off and have it taken off of my credit report? Will this also raise my credit score dramatically? I'd like to apply for credit cards soon to start establishing good credit.

- Yes, you can. Contact the companies you owe, and give them your correct mailing address. Then contact the 3 major credit reporting bureaus (Equifax and the other two), get a copy of your credit report, and when the bills are paid off, send the necessary paperwork to them for evaluation.
- Negative info can stay on your credit for seven years. If you pay off these debts, the past dues 1(30),2(60),charge off,P&L,etc can stay on for seven years. You should make a agreement with the Original Creditor(OC) that in consideration of your paying the debts off that they will delete any and all negative info from your credit file.Make sure you get it in writing and all correspondence should be by certified mail register receipt. If they have turn this over to collection agency already, it makes this process very hard, as they will report as well. For more info click the link below.

- I have talked to many people and they say not to pay off your debt that is on your credit report...it already hurt you why let it hurt your wallet. Just start disputing them and they will slowly come off of your report. Try this board: http://webgroups.biz/creditcardperks/phpBB2/index.php
