  1. Your FICO score will go up very little (if at all) if you simply pay the outstanding accounts without getting a commitment from the creditor and/or colleciton agency *IN WRITING* that they will delete the item from your credit report when they receive your payment. It's very difficult to get things removed after they've been paid.. it can be done with a lot of persistence in some cases, but more often than not, they don't come off until the 7 year timer has expired. Many original creditors and collection agencies will only commit to marking the item "paid" on your credit report. This does virtually nothing for your score... a derrogatory entry on your report carries the same weight on your FICO score whether it's paid or not. Having derrogatory items marked as paid comes in handy when your credit report is reviewed manually (such as when applying for a mortgage). Your scores are also being hurt by all the inquiries, unless these are "soft" inquiries. "Hard" inquiries stay on your report for 2 years, and large numbers of them in a short period of time decrease your FICO scores. If these are soft inquiries, they have no effect.. the credit report should be able to tell you. Soft inquiries are only viewable by you. Hard inquiries are visible to anyone that pulls your credit report. Good luck!
  2. Of course paying them off will help, I would contact Capital One Bank/mastercard whatever it is, and get them to remove some of their inquiries if they will...and HSBC, it would appear to lenders that you are desparately searching for credit which may signal to them you are in a financial hard place... Why do you have so many enquiries?? This is really lowering your score.... I have a question and don't know how to post a new one...if you pay collections items off in full do they instantly remove them from your credit report or does it take some time, or do they stay on there and just show paid off?? how much will that increase my beacon score???
