How long does it take for an item to be removed from your credit report after you dispute it?

I have 2 items on my credit report that have expired and I want them removed from my credit report. How long does it take for them to disappear once I submit my dispute? Also, when an auto loan says "charged off as bed debt" in the status line, is that considered a repossession? I still have my car, the bank sold the debt to a collection agency. Thanks
